Biography
Ahmed Reggad is a self-taught screenwriter, film director from Algeria.
Learning directing for him was very difficult due to the absence of film schools in Algeria, but his passion and love for cinema made him study diligently independently. His short film Unstoppable won many national and international prizes, this film also got a chance to be distributed online on a platform called “paus.tv”. He also got a chance to distribute his next feature film on Amazon Prime.
His latest short film, “Once upon a time” was screened at the most important international film festivals, such as Kelibia Amateur Film Festival, FIFAK in Tunisia, Bahrain International Film Festival, and The Egyptian American Film Festival, EAFF in New York. It was also among the five films nominated – out of thousands – for the Best Foreign Language Short Film Award in Next Generation Indie. Film awards in Hollywood. This film was met with great acclaim by major critics, screenwriters, and directors, as Ahmed says: “This film is not destinated to everyone. It is true that the story is directed the human being, regardless of his gender and language. However, the film’s philosophy is destinated to those who have a rich background of knowledge that may let them see and read what the camera captured in each shot.”
Ahmed sees the cinema as a way of communication, business, he like his films to be likeable by the audiences and the film critics, “The successful film is the one who has memorable scenes driving the audience to re-watch it again, and the one who makes the film critics ask questions when it ends”.
